Attention Sector Switchers!
Three Ways to
Move Your Resume to the Top

In this tenuous economy, it is more critical than ever for a job seeker to outshine the competition in order to land a new job. For sector switchers, enhanced experience, commitment, and knowledge of the nonprofit sector are what set them apart from other candidates, and ultimately, lead to their dream job. For those considering a career shift to the nonprofit sector, contributing time, expertise, and knowledge to one of the more than 1.8 million registered nonprofits are ideal ways to ease this transition, strengthen a resume, and make a difference.

Finding Your Place
in the Nonprofit Sector

Now that you have determined that the nonprofit sector is right for you, you must find your place among the sector's many opportunities. Doing so requires a three-tiered decision-making making process.

1. What is your motivating social cause?

2. What approach would you take to solve this cause or this problem?

3. What skills and experience do you bring to the table?

NPAG Gives Back...
and Extends a Thank You to
the West End House!

In June, Team NPAG held their annual retreat, bringing together our staff from around the world. In keeping with our mission to Give Back, we structured the three-day meeting that did just that, choosing to work with vendors throughout who dedicate a portion of their profits to social good, and beginning with an entire day at the West End House Boys & Girls Club in Allston, Massachusetts. In the morning, we helped the staff cook a special meal for that evening's year-end awards ceremony, as well as food to freeze for the children who use the facilities throughout the year. In the afternoon, we made paper flower centerpieces for that night's festivities.

West End House

We would like to extend a special thank you to Andrea Howard, Executive Director, Lisa Smith, Kids Café Coordinator, and the rest of the staff! If you have a moment, check out the West End House, and all the great work they do year round.
