Creating Opportunity in
the Nonprofit Sector

If you are committed to making a difference in the world, your career search may lead you to the nonprofit sector. Nonprofit organizations work in the realms of education, the environment, health, human services, international aid, religion, arts and culture, advocacy, philanthropy and more. The nonprofit sector can be a very creative place because it is beholden neither to shareholders to make a profit (as corporations are), nor the voters or elected officials (as government agencies ultimately are). A creative approach can work well when entering this field.

In this month's feature article, Heather Krasna, our new Director of Candidate Services and the author of Jobs That Matter: Find a Stable, Fulfilling Career in Public Service discusses helpful ideas on creating your own opportunities in the nonprofit sector.

NPAG U Presents Webinar on "Personal Branding and Your Online Reputation"

Join Heather Krasna and Jahkedda Akbar on February 2nd to discuss "Personal Branding and Your Online Reputation."

What comes up if you Google yourself? The job search, as well as your personal reputation, now depend on your maintenance of a positive internet presence. These days, employers (current and prospective) can easily find out what you are saying on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter, how you've rated books on, letters to the editor you've written, campaign contributions, and much more. This, combined with your work history and references, creates an overall image or perception of who you are, professionally and personally.

Are you doing everything you can to take control and create a positive personal brand, online and in person? Learn how to create a positioning statement, identify the value proposition you can offer, differentiate yourself from your competition, and understand your target audience. You'll hear examples of personal pitches, positioning statements, and get actionable tips on maximizing your online presence.

Our webinars are always free, but space is limited. Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 12pm Eastern
