In his capacity as Research Associate, Travis identifies strategic networks to support our search teams to build out deep, diverse candidate pools. Travis’s depth of experience partnering with nonprofits and public purpose organizations across sectors make him great addition to our Research team.
Travis Lovett serves on the senior leadership team at Phillips Brooks House, Harvard College's Center for Public Service and Engaged Scholarship. Through his work, Travis is responsible for building partnerships, mobilizing key stakeholders, including nonprofit program directors, government officials, campus officials, students, and alumni/ae to support Harvard’s public service efforts. He has developed programs that have improved visibility of public service efforts, strengthened public sector recruiting, and increased civic engagement efforts across institutions.
His responsibilities as the Director of the Center for Public Interest Careers focus on community engagement, student support, strategic planning, and delivering services that sustain community service efforts around the world. He most recently worked to launch a comprehensive national summer fellowship program that matches 75 students with leading public service organizations across the U.S. Through this program, students receive ongoing access to leadership training and mentoring.
Each year, Travis works with over 300 nonprofit organizations across the country to find opportunities for students and alums to engage in public service. Travis earned his M.A. in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University. He also earned a M.A. in Journalism from Northeastern University and a B.S. in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University. In 2016, Travis received the Harvard University Impact Award in recognition of “truly outstanding, sustained superior performance, and exceptional effectiveness.” He is one of five founding members of YNPN Boston, a nonprofit professional development organization focused on youth leadership engagement. Travis likes a wide range of music and literature, plays tennis and basketball, enjoys writing, sugar, caffeine, and being outdoors as much as possible.
